Historic Windows, Modern Craftsmanship: Sash Window Repairs’ Legacy
Founded in early 2010, Sash Window Repairs began when Nate, while working as a joiner crafting and restoring furniture pieces, windows, and doors from recycled timbers, recognised a need for the traditional, hands-on art of sash window restoration—a skill seldom taught today. Inspired by the enduring charm and character of period sash windows and their effectiveness once properly functioning, Nate developed a passion for this time-honed craft.
Today, Nate continues to lead the business, mostly working solo. However, his brother, a Melbourne-based carpenter, occasionally assists, and Nate is currently mentoring an apprentice in the art of repairing these historical windows.
Operating in Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, Sash Window Repairs has over 14 years of specialised experience in the repair and restoration of sash and double hung windows. This singular focus has cultivated an intimate knowledge of these windows, ensuring that once repaired, they operate as efficiently as they did two centuries ago.
Sash Window Repairs serves a diverse clientele, including builders, carpenters, handymen, architects, property groups, real estate agents, and homeowners. The company has restored thousands of windows across Victoria, including significant projects at Latrobe University, Melbourne University College, various heritage-listed schools, Ronald McDonald Houses, and some of Melbourne’s most historic buildings.
Priding itself on fairness, transparency, and reliability, Sash Window Repairs offers competitive pricing and detailed quotes before commencing work. Regardless of the project size, from minor repairs to large-scale restorations, the team is committed to delivering high-quality craftsmanship. They are punctual, provide clear options for necessary work, and outline associated costs, ensuring client satisfaction.
Customer feedback and our reputation are paramount. A significant portion of our business stems from repeat customers and word-of-mouth referrals. We back our work with a twelve-month warranty, and every project is approached with the meticulous care and patience required for restoring historic windows.
